My Story
An idea that started with the thought: "How can I make money in Jordan doing something I enjoy while being a dental University Student?"
How it started
I’ve been interested in doing my “own thing” since I was young. With Entrepreneurship and business mindset being romanticized on social media the idea seemed attractive to me. I started a small business selling handmade jewelry and made a website and everything. At the time I had school, which I wasn’t very passionate about, but still enjoyed because of my friends and the vibes. That’s mainly why I decided to close it, by it I mean the Instagram account for the business, to have more free time. Nonetheless, I felt like something was missing. Then after that a couple of years passed and I made another jewelry business but that didn’t work out either because I got bored. Lastly, my best friends and I started a baking business on Instagram and started taking orders and selling our goods at bazaars. This was the most recent project. As University approached and with zero time management skills we stopped and said we might continue after uni because we enjoyed it a lot. After going through the first two years and now entering the second semester of my third year in sha Allah I’m so thankful for the opportunities I’ve had and the privilege I have to try out new things when I want to and I want to take these opportunities and turn them into something bigger. As a dreamer and ambitious person, I’ve decided to write these blogs and turn them into helpful sources of knowledge for whoever is interested. This concept of blogs interests me as I have not seen many people in Jordan do this kind of thing when it is not related to news and is a bit more of a personal slice-of-life blog. I consider myself a student of life who is very excited to learn from the world and other people and share what I can with others. If you’d like to join the e-mail list you’ll get a notification whenever I upload a new blog. This is part of my story on how this idea began and how the mindset came to life. Thank you so much for reading this and I hope you enjoyed it, have an amazing day!
Values
What are my values? As a Muslim, I try to do things with good intentions in mind. I value people with gratitude, honesty, self-respect, and discipline in all things regarding religion, how you treat others, and how you see the world and yourself. As someone in their 20s, you start feeling the pressures that come with that age but there are so many things you can still do and achieve with the unique skills you have or want to learn and with a “growth mindset”. I’d like to be one of the people with those amazing traits one day while still allowing myself to make mistakes and be self-forgiving enough to learn from those mistakes and move on. God gives us so many opportunities every day, we just need to look at them sometimes. We forget that even the opportunity to wake up from sleep and enter a new day and a new beginning is something to be grateful for in and of itself. Reminds me of this hadeeth:
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The one among you who wakes up secure in his property, healthy in his body, and has his food for the day, it is as if the whole world were brought to him.”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari in al-Adab al-Mufrad (no. 300) and by al-Tirmidhi in al-Sunan (2346).
That’s why comparing myself to those below me not above me when I feel upset to feel more grateful holds high importance to me. On the other hand, don’t forget that you should allow yourself to make mistakes and be self-forgiving. Own your mistakes, don’t deny you did them. Ask god for guidance and forgiveness and move on to become the best version of yourself. You got this!
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should not hurt his neighbor and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should serve his guest generously and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should speak what is good or keep silent."
Sahih al-Bukhari 6136
